Lacrosse originated with the Native Americans of North America which makes it this continent's oldest known team sport. French missionaries in Canada during the 1600's actually recorded games played by natives which they called baggataway. The missionaries renamed the spectacle la crosse for the stick used by players in the game that resembled a bishops cross.Lacrosse is predominantly played in Canada during the summer months. Box Lacrosse started in the 1930's as a means to bring revenue to hockey rinks in the off season. Additionally it kept players fit during the summer months.
It is absolutely needed to clothe a helmet when you play Lacrosse because regulate injuries are totally communal to the sport. You can imagine how grim the wound can be when the sphere with an eight shuffle circumference, hit by the gore, manor even on your command. The only way to guard your move is to sustain the helmet with an unadorned cheek strip that helps hold the helmet securely to the travel. The clothing worn by Lacrosse players varies fairly according to the stance played. In broad, players erode shorts and a dumpy-sleeved shirt during play. Elbow pads are optional but are considered to be a good idea as it is not uncommon to be struck by a disparate player's glue during play. The goalie will costume padded pants and commonly uses chest and thigh pads for protection against the globe and soaring firewood.

A lacrosse stick (sometimes called the crosse although this term is rarely used) is a lacrosse player's most important piece of equipment - the piece of equipment he should sleep with. Lacrosse sticks are different for men's and women's lacrosse but consist of the head and shaft.Modern handles, more commonly referred to as shafts, are mostly hollow metal tubes. They are usually polygonal, instead of round, in order to provide a better grip for players. Most are made of aluminum, titanium, or kevlar, but many are still made from other materials, including wood. Hallow metal handles must be covered with with tape or a plug (commonly referred to as the "butt"), usually made of rubber, on the exposed end. Women's lacrosse handles are usually shorter than those found in men's lacrosse, since regulations limit the length of men's sticks (including the head) from 40 to 42 inches (52 to 72 inches for defensemen), while women's sticks can be 35.5 to 43.25 inches long.

Lacrosse is played on a competition field made of grass or artificial turf. Both men's and women's Lacrosse competitions are much the same with the main difference being the required protective gear. Women competitors are only required to wear protective eye gear whereas gentlemen athletes are required to wear protective headgear, shoulder equipment and protective hand wear. Professional indoor lacrosse combines the physical play of hockey with the high scoring, fast pace and play-making style of basketball. Indoor lacrosse is played with six men per side, a rougher and faster derivative of the outdoor game. There are more scoring opportunities, and far more big hits, making indoor lacrosse an intense experience for players as well as fans
